Speaking in New York of the power wielded by newspapers, Cardinal Gibbons said that the press was undoubtedly a colossal engine of either truth or error.
As it® duty was to be the agent of good, and not of evil, it was the duty of the people to support those papers that were conspicuous by their elevating tone, and that did everything in their power to lessen the great evil that results from those that have an influence for bad.
