The stocks on hand are heavy. There is a better demand, owing to expectations that shipments are likely to decrease. Canterbury 3kl, North Island 2|cl. Lamb: The market is firm, with u good demand for all lamb. The prospects are- rather more encouraging. Canterbury 41 d, other than Canterbury 4-Jd. Beef: The market is quiet. Stocks of New Zealand on hand are light. New Zealand hindquarters 4d, forequarters 2|d'. Butter: The market is weaker, and the tendency is downward. Choicest New Zealand butter, 106 s ; Australian, 100 s; Danish, 112 s; Siberian, 100 s. Cheese: The market is a shade weaker. New Zealand, 61s 6d, Canadian (new), 60s. Hemp: The market lias advanced 5s per ton, viz., spot New Zealand, good to fair, £2O ss; fair grade, £l9 15s; fair current Manila, £lO 15s; forward shipment New Zealand l good fair, £2O os; fair grade Manila, £l9 15s. The output froon Manila for the week was 28,000 bales. THE HOME MARKETS. [United pbess association— copyright.! LONDON, May 13. The Bradford wool market is firm and unchanged. The wheat market closes a shade easier on the decline of the American, due to better weather reports, but a strong Continental demand continues, with British speculation rendering a serious relapse improbable, although the European crops outlook is favorable. Holders are asking 35s 6d for South Australian in steamers, January shipment, and! 35s 6d for a New South Wales April shipment. An Australian cargo sold at 35s 3d and two others at 35s 3d. There is an improved demand for Australian on spot at 37s and 37s 6d. Butter is quiet, with Danish unchanged. The few choicest colonials that are arriving sell readily. Australian salted 96s to 98s (occasionally 100 s), unsalted 102 s; secondaries are neglected. European supplies are increasing rapidly. Cheese is steady. New Zealand colored is in better demand at 625.
