At a largely attended meeting held in Trafalgar Square, on behalf of the South Wales strikers’ fund, a .resolution was passed that as the earnings of 20,000 pit men working full time averaged under 24s weekly, they demanded nationalisation of the mines and a statutory minimum wage of 28s. Mr Iveir Ilardie said that strikes in tlie future wore going to embrace the whole country. He was not sorry- the employers had combined, as that fact had knocked, a little sense into some very thick heads.
