MUNICIPAL BY-ELECTION.

AIR A. H. ANDERSON’S CANDIDATURE.

Mr. A. H. Anderson, a candidate for the vacan t seat on the Gisborne Borough Council ah the coming by-election, addressed a fairly large audience at the Sievwriglit Memorial last evening, Mr. J. H. HalL presided. Mr. Anderson’s remarks were muc?u on tlie lines of his address on Saturday evening. He referred to the necessity for the .erection of a municipal tepid bath, such as had been erected in other towns in New. Zealand. Such undertakings had! proved eminently success 1 - ful, and: if he was returned to the Council lie’would endeavor to have this work put in hand. Another proposal that had not been referred to in the Labor party’s platform, was the sewerage house connections. He was of opinion that these should be supplied to householders by the Council at cost price. Regarding the streets he thought that the Council should have _tbe names of all the streets posted in a conspicuous place so that strangers to the town would! be able to know exactly the name of the particular street they were walking along. The candidate answered a number of questions, after which Messrs G. Darton, A. Richards and P. Maher, addressed the meeting in support of his candidature.
