She left Gisborne at 11.30 a.in. on Wednesday and soon ran into a- howling south-easterly gale, with mountainous seas. Rain fell in torrents, and the weather was so thick that the captain was unable to pick up the land and the vessel Avas liovc-to for eight hours off East Cape. The gale haA-ing moderated yesterday morning, the Hauroto again put on her course and met with strong Avinds and high sens to the time of her arrival.
