PAUPERS' REVOLT AGAINST TRIP.
ENJOYED AT FIRST, BUT NOW REFUSED.
Tire paupers at Sculcoates Workhouse, at Hull (England), have revolted against tripe as an article of" dietary, and, according to a report made by the maser to he beard, have flatly refused to eat it, even if they lost a meal. According to Dr Lilley,' chairman of the house committee, they are not making any very great sacrifice, by their voluntary abstinence. Dr Lilley told his fellow guardians that some of the inmates of the house were so well fed that they could go without a meal. As with everything good, they have tired of it, remarked the doctor who recalled the fact that when the article was first included in the dietary—on acount of its nutritious value and its suitability for old people—tripe was enjoyed by every inmate. To show that the condemnation is not (altogether unanimous, Dr Lilley - mentioned that the children still declared a preference for tripe, potatoes and onions.
The anti-tripe party found a champion in Mr Eastman, whose suggestion- that tripe nieals should he suspended was adopted to. the extent that the board gave instructions for the menu to be changed as soon as possible.
