TAKAPUNA JOCKEY CLUB. WINTER MEETING. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.! AUCKLAND, May 20. The Takapuna Jockey Club’s winter meeting was opened to-day in fine weather. The course was in fast going order, and the attendance was large. Results:—
Handicap Maiden Plate, of lOOsovs, seven furlongs.—Ruatangita 6.13, 1; Haku 7.11, 2; St. Amans 7.13, 3. Twelve others started. Won by a. length and a half. Time, lmin 33 l-ssec.
First Pony Handicap, of lOOsovs, pi furlongs.—Mighty Atom 9.0, 1; Miss Stella 8.0, 2; Red Lupin 10.0, 3. Six others started. Won by three lengths. Time lmin 12 3-ssec.
Empire Handicap, of 250sovs, £-mile. —Domino 8.1, 1; Sea Elf 6.12, 2; Electrakoff 9.4, 3. Eight others started. Won by three lengths. Time, 2min 16 l-3sec.
Maiden Hurdles, of 100 sovs li miles —Miss Explosion 10.1, 1; Captain Paul 9.0, 2; Denbies 9.3, 3. Six others started. Won easily by two lengths. Time, 3min 7 l-ssec. Hauraki Hurdles, of 200sovs, 2 miles. —Don Quex 9.8, 1; Delegate 10.2> 2; Sol 10.0, 3. Three others started; Won by half a length. Time, 3min 56sec.
Royal Handicap, of 12550v5., seven furlongs.— ; Sir Artegal 8.6, 1 ; Elegance 7.0, 2; Captain Soult 7.13, 3. Six others started. Won by one and a half lengths. Time, lmin 33 2-5 sec. Ngataringa Handicap,' of 100 sovs ; , five and a half furlongs.—Lady . Bettie 8.4, 1; Blue Mount 9.0, 2; Tiresome 7.0, 3. Nine others started. _Won by a couple of lengths. Time, lmin 14see. During the running of the Ngataringa Handicap, Countree fell, bringing down Jollie Fille and Falchion. O’Shea, the rider of Countree, sustained a fracture of the frontal hone of the skull, and, was taken to a private hospital. NEWCASTLE J,C. CUP MEETING. [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Time : 2min 2sec. Q.T.C. AUTUMN MEETING. (Received May 21, 5.5. p.m.) BRISBANE, May 20. Stradbroke Handicap, of 500 sovs., 6 furlongs.—Lady Hope 7.9 1, Pittsworth Gun 8.11 2, Rhondda 7.0 3. Fifteen started. Won by a length. Time: 1.14 3-4 secs.
