MR BOWRING’S LADIES’ TROPHY. An 18-hole stroke competition for Mr Bowring’s trophy (a portrait of the winner) will be played on the links to-day. Keen interest is being taken in the competition, and it is anticipated that the play this afternoon will furnish cmse contests. May 22, -Harry Vardon, the English golfer, 'has notified his"willingness to,make a three months’ tour of Australia and New Zealand for a guarantee of £6OO, with £250 expenses. It is proposed that New South Wales and Victoria each furnish £3OO and the,other States and New Zealand the balance.
