RE-INSTALLATION OF MR. LYSNAR.

CORDIAL REMARKS BY COUN-
GILLORS.
Prior to the ordinary business being taken at the meeting of the Borough Council last night, the official ceremony of installing the Mayor was performed. There were present:—The . Mayor (Mr. W. D. Lysnar), and Crs! Harris, Smith, Webb, Collins, Brown, Darton, Wade, and Sawyer. On tlie motion of Cr. Smith, seconded by Cr. Darton, Cr. Pettie was voted to the chair.
Cr. Pettie congratulated Cr. Sawyer on his election to the Council.
After the Mayor had read and signed the statutory declaration, Cr. Pettie said : “Your Worship, I desire to heartily congratulate you upon your re-election as Mayor. We. regret you were unable to be present at the first meeting of the Council, hut were aware of the reason of your absence. We knew that you had gone to Wellington in order to consult the doctors in regard to your eyesight, and are pleased that the operation to your eyes was successful. We are all pleased to have you hack partially restored in health, and hope that in a few days you will have regained your usual health. The coming year is going to be a most arduous one, and the decisions of the Council will have to be made very carefully and well weighed. We look to you to' so guide the Council that it might come to the best decisions. We trust that harmony and good-feeling might exist during the coming year. During your absence, the best of good feeling has been displayed, in the Council. I hope all will work with a will during the coming year, and do their best in the interest and progress of the town. I have pleasure in asking you to again take office.”
Cr. Smith congratulated the Mayor on his re-election, and sympathised with him in his illness. He was pleased to see him partially restored to health, and recovered from his affliction. He was also pleased to see the Mayor back to preside over the Council.
The Mayor, in replying, thanked the Council for their expressions of goodwill on his again assuming office. He agreed with Cr. Pettie that the coming year would he a most important one, and he trusted that all would work together to achieve the best results. If any Councillors had better suggestions than he to make he would heartily welcome them. The new Councillors were practical men, and he hoped they would give the Council the value of their experience.
