HORSE SALE
About eighty horses were yarded at Williams and Kettle’s horse bazaar on Saturday. Hacks made from £3 to £lB and harness horses £5 to £lB. A pair of buggy horses were sold for £3O. All the horses entered at the blood stock sale failed to reach the reserve. PRODUCE SALES. Messrs Malcolm and Co.. report that the following prices were obtained! at their .auction sales on‘Friday and Saturday : —Eggs Is 9d to 2s, turkeys, hens 3s 9d to 6s 9d, goblers 7s 6d to 9s, roosters Is 3d to 2s 3d, hens Is 3d to Is 9d, oranges 4s case, apples 2fd to 2|d, bacon, sides 64d, ham -7d, walnuts 3d, marrows Is 6d to 2s 6d doz., cabbages 3s doz., parsnips Is 6cl do-z. The Friday auction sales recently inaugurated are proving very popular witai townspeople. The following prices were realised at Messrs Miler and Craig’s auction mart on Saturday: Hens Is to Is 10d, ducks Is lOd, roosters Is 8d to 2s 6d, turkey hens ss. oggs 2s 3d, butter lOd to Is, onions 5s 6d bag, pumpkins 2s sack, citron melons scl each, -rhubarb 5d bdle, bacon 7d lb., aples 3s 9cl box, pears 3s §d box. MATAWHERO 1 STOCK SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report- on stock sale held' on Thursday last: Yardings in both sheep 'and cattle ■were much heavier, than is usual. A good deal of business was put through, and selling did not conclude until nearly dark. Sheep.—Our entry comprised 4750. of which we sold 3762, the following being the day’s quotations : —Fat ewes 10s 3d to 11s 6d), empty ewes in low condition 6s 9d- ,better conditioned sheep 8s to ' 9s. Cull ewes in lamb made 4s 8d to
ss, 5 and 6-year old ewes in iambus to 10s Id, younger ewes 11s. Hoggets were not a large entry, and the demand seems to have eased. We sold civil hoggets at 4s, medium lines 7s to 7s 10a, whilst better class hoggets made from &6d to 9s. Wethers were -not a large entry and were eagerly competed for. (Sales were made at from 12s 8d to 13s 3d for fairly grown 2-tooths. Pigs.—The pens were all filled. We sold weaners at I2s, slips at from 13s to 17s, porkers 255. Cattle. —There was a large -entry ot beef, which ’ practically all-sold. Jieer cows in low condition made from a. 3 to £4. ss, better sorts £4 17s 6d to £5, whilst -heavy weight cows made £5 17s 6d to £7/ Fat steers, light weights, £8 to £6 10s, heavier bullocks £7 15s, steers • 24. t0 8-year old £4 18s 6d to £5 os 2 to 24 year -old £4 12s 6d, 13-mc-nths £3 “lOs to £3 1.-s 6d, yearling steers £3 16s. Pearling heifers made from £2 16s to £2 18s 6d, mixed yearl-in-o-s £2 8s 6d to- £2 12-s, cows and calves in low condition £2 10s, dry cows £2 2s 6d to £2 10s.
