THE MANDALAY WRECK.
LITTLE HOPE OF RE-FLOATINC
CASTAWAYS SUFFER MUCH HARDSHIP.
[UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.]
(Received May 29, 12.35 a.m.) PERTH, May 2S
The Mandalay’s castaways have arrived here. The vessel was driven off her course by gales, and the captain ran her ashore on a sandy beach. A man named Ward, who was the only Englishman aboard, at great risk carried a life-line ashore, and by this means the balance of the crew landed safely. They suffered considerable hardship on the overland journey. The Mandalay has a hole in her ..bottom, and the mainmast is gone. She is embedded in the sand, and the seas are breaking over her. It is unlikely that she will be- refloated. [A cable on the 26tli inst stated that the barque Mandalay, bound from South Africa to Albany, was a total wreck nine miles from Brooks Inlet, near Albany.] ;
