ATTEMPT TO LYNCH THE MAYOR
[UNITED PEESS 'ASSOCIATION— COPYEIGHTj (Received May 29, 9.30 p.m.) v ROME, May 29. The parapet of a new reservoir at Leari collapsed suddenly. Eight, men AA-ere drowned and six others were only rescued with' great difficulty. The populace attempted to lynch the mayor, who attributed the fatality to faulty construction. The architect for the work has been arrested.
