GISBORNE FIRE BOARD.
THE BOROUGH COUNCIL’S REPRESENTATI YES.
A ‘CHANGE DECIDED UPON
The secretary of the Fire Board wrote to last night’s meeting of the Borough Council stating that in accordance, with section. 17 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, it was necessary that, the biennial election of the Council’s three representatives on the Board should be held this month. Cr. Dart,on, moved, and Cr. Sawyer seconded, that the Council’s members on the Board, the Mayor, and Cr®. Pettie and Harris, should be re-elected. Cr. Peittie said that there had been some criticism of the Board, and this was an opportune time to; make a change. Cr“ Collins said that any criticism that had been made had been levelled at the Board, and not at the-Council s representatives on the 1 Board. , Cr. Harris said he would refuse to act on the Board. He had been unable in the past to 1 get reforms lie had advocated carried into effect, and he considered it was a waste of time attending the Cr. Webb moved that the Mayor and Crs. Collins and Smith represent the Council on the Fire Board. The motion was seconded by Cr. bavyer,'and carried unanimously.
