The anuual meeting of the East Coast Acclimatisation Society, at which the president, Mr. T. Holden, presided, was held in Mr. H. M. In order to obviate the difficulty of getting a quorum, which had been experienced during the preceding year, Mr. Redstone moved that a small working committee be appointed to transact the ordinary business of the society. This was agreed upon, and the following were elected:—President, vice-pre-sident, and Messrs. Kirk, Hanson, ‘and McKee. On the motion of Mr. McKee, Mr. J. R. Kirk was appointed solicitor to tlie society. ’ The following new members were admitted :—Messrs., R. Thelwall, J. Dalrvmple, N. Pilcher,’ and G. Runciman. v Tlie matter of tlie appointment of rangers was left to tlie discretion of the committee.

It was further decided to write to other acclimatisation societies and secure their co-operation in an attempt to have the gun license brought in.. In answer to a question, the chairman stated that it would be inadvisable to spend money on trout this year, as the funds would ‘be required for the re-establishing of game in this district. ■
On the motion of'-Mr. Redstone, it was decided that the committee be instructed to import new pheasant blood into the district, and to make inquiries as to other breeds suitable for acclimatisation here..
