The Union Co/s Hauroto, from Napier and southern ports, arrived in the roadstead at an early hour yesterday morning, and was tendered at the nsnal hours, sailing for Auckland, via Tokomaru Bay, a little before noon. Returning from Auckland on Sunday afternoon, the Hauroto will be tendered on arrival and at 5 p.m. She will proceed south later. Messrs. Huddart, Parker, and Co/s Wimmera, from Sydney, via Auckland and Tokomaru Bay, arrived early yesterday afternoon. The Tuatea connected on arrival and at 7 p.m., and the Wimmera resumed her passage to the south late in the evening. The Union Co/s Mokoia arrives from Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Napier on Saturday morning, and proceeds to Auckland, via Tokomaru Bay, later. The Tuatea is timed to connect at 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. s Consequent upon the heavy rains prevailing in Wellington, Messrs. Richardson and Co/s Ripple has been unable to carry on her loading operations, and will be a day later than usual in reaching Gisborne, and arrives on Saturday. • Leaving Bluff about June sth, the Union Co/s Wairuna .will work Oamaru on June Bth, Timaru on June 9th, and then comes on to Napier and Gisborne, and is due here on June 13. On discharging a portion of her cargo she proceeds to Auckland. The Union Co/s Haupiri is expected to clear Auckland for Limestone Island, East Coast bays, and Gisborne this evening, and should arrive here at an early date. 4
The Union Co.’s Squall is due to leave Auckland this afternoon, and calls at Tologa Bay. She is expected to arrive here on Saturdav, and to return to Auckland on Monday. Messrs. Richardson and Co.’s Ruru. from Tokomaru Bay. is expected to call here this morning, en route for Whangawehi and Napier. A new steamer for the New Zealand coastal trade has been ordered by Messrs. Parker. Lamb, and Co. Shp is building at Messrs. Fullarton’s yard at Paisley. and will be a single-screw steamer, built of steel, having a deadweight carrying capacity of from 700 to 800 tons, on a draff of lift Bin. The new vessel, which will be launched in September next, will be named Opouri. She is intended chiefly for the trade between Grymouth. Nydia Bay. and Lyttelton, carrying timber for the Marlborough Timber Company of Lyttelton. She will be equal to the stowage of 350.000 ft of timber. The new vessel will call at Sydney en route to New Zealand.
