KOWHAI HOCKEY CLUB DANCE.
AN ENJOYABLE FUNCTION. SOME PRETTY FROCKS. The ladies of the above club held a most enjoyable and highly successful ball in His Majesty’s Theatre last evening, about sixty couples being present. A programme of sixteen dances, with six extras, were gone through, to the -strains of delightful music by Messrs. J. Dods and Vita Bros. Supper was set on two long tables at the rear of the stage, which had been converted into a veritable fairy-bower, with ferns, flowers, and palms, with which were prettily intermingled the club colors, maroon and cream. The committee, consisting of Misses Warren, Winter, Neilson, Reclclell, and Jones, deserve great praise for the catering .arrangements, whilst Miss E. Fromm capably carried out the duties of secretary.
A pretty and comfortable lounge room Avas arranged on the stage, and it was much in demand. Some very pretty frocks Avere Avorn. Mrs. W. F. Cedenvall Avore floral satin goAvn with lace scarf. Miss Ethel Fromm, Avhite silk frock. Miss G. Warren, cream taffeta, with cream insertion trimmings. Miss M. Winter, pink floral muslin. Miss Neilson, Avhite Milan de-soie; the tunic skirt trimmed with heavy silk fringe. Miss M. Reddell, Avhite muslin. Miss Jones, pink ninon de-soie, with crystal insertion on bodice. Mrs. E. D. Smith, mauve silk goAAm. Mrs. J. Martin, black satin Avith black iet on bodice. . ' Miss M. Martin (debutante), white ninon over white satin, with deep crystal embroidery on corsage and finishing the hem of the tunic. Miss M. Hayes, Avhite satin, silver trimming on corsage.
Miss Violet. Smith, mauve ninon frock, trimmed Avith purple bead insertion. Mrs. W. Johnston, black satin. Miss Daisy Fraser, ciel blue satin A\’ith an overdress of pale blue ninon trimming, Avith crystal fringes. Miss* Pearl Maynard, stone blue silk frock skirt opening over an overdress of cream lace. Miss Jean Cumming, old rose satin. Miss Hird, pink satin frock. Miss Cooper, Avhite satin. Miss DaAVSon, Avhite satin, skirt trimmed Avith silk fringe. Mrs.. Sivinnerton, ..fllpck, chiffon taMiss Houltain, Avhite Milan de-soie. Miss Dennehy, pale blue moussellaine de-soie.
Miss Buchanan, black sequin frock. Miss Gault, slate blue silk. Mrs. Nicholls, cream taffeta, with crystal embroidery. Miss Neilson, peacock blue satin charmeuse. Miss Murray, Avhite ninon de-soie. Miss N. Rice, cream net frock. Miss N. Dunlop, black satin Avith gold , beaded tunic caught Avith bunches of silver grapes. Miss M. Dunlop, black silk Avith gold on corsage. Miss Robb, blue cashmere.
