KOWHAI HOCKEY CLUB DANCE.

AN ENJOYABLE FUNCTION. SOME PRETTY FROCKS. The ladies of the above club held a most enjoyable and highly successful ball in His Majesty’s Theatre last evening, about sixty couples being present. A programme of sixteen dances, with six extras, were gone through, to the -strains of delightful music by Messrs. J. Dods and Vita Bros. Supper was set on two long tables at the rear of the stage, which had been converted into a veritable fairy-bower, with ferns, flowers, and palms, with which were prettily intermingled the club colors, maroon and cream. The committee, consisting of Misses Warren, Winter, Neilson, Reclclell, and Jones, deserve great praise for the catering .arrangements, whilst Miss E. Fromm capably carried out the duties of secretary.

Smith, mauve silk goAAm. Mrs. J. Martin, black satin Avith black iet on bodice. . ' Miss M. Martin (debutante), white ninon over white satin, with deep crystal embroidery on corsage and finishing the hem of the tunic. Miss M. Hayes, Avhite satin, silver trimming on corsage.
