The Kaiser, when responding to a toast, turned to the Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg Strelitz, tlie late Queen Victoria’s first cousin, and remarked: “I fee! bound to mention my pleasant impressions of my recent visit to London, and of King George’s and Queen Mary’s kindness. King George’s speech was made with great warmth, and had special reference to the relations of friendship and the close connection existing between our two houses.”
