A WINDING UP PETITION

[UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT.] LONDON, June 8. The officials of the Birkbeck Bank have been suspended, with a view to the reconstruction of the bank. An official statement sets out that owing to the depreciation of securities, the' Birkbeck Bank directors lodged a winding-up -petition. They estimate the deficiency at £375,000, against which they hold guarantees of £300,000 and anticipate that the creditors will receive immediately 10s in the pound, but Mr.. Plender, the auditor, estimates the deficiency at £775,000.
