BURGLARS AT WORK
LPEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.} PAHIATUA, June 10. Burglars Avere at Avork in Pahiatua last night, two hotels and tA\ r o business places being visited. The premises of Early, a butcher, Avere entered, and an amount in notes and cash, estimated at £lO to £l2, Avas taken, also three cheques, of the total value of £3 or £5. Tavo cases of Avhisky Avere missing this morning from the storeroom of the Commercial Hotel.
BANK INSPECTOR’S RETIREMENT WELLINGTON, June 10. Mr Everard John Finch, Inspector of the Bank of Ncav South Wales for New Zealand, will retire from the service of that institution at the end of this month. He entered the service of the bank as a junior clerk in 1860, and in July 1898 lie AA'as appointed inspector for NeAV Zealand, a position he has filled ever since. It is Mr Finch’s intention to return to his native land and reside in Sydney. THE WHOLESALE CLUB. CHRISTCHURCH, June 10. A ne tit ion has been filed in bankruptcy praying for the liquidation of the Wholesale Club, Limited, and for a public investigation into the circumstances of the flotation of that concern.
