GOLF.

MONTHLY MEDAL COMPETITION. Last Saturday promised to be one of the best days this season for giving players an opportunity of showing what form they were in. With the greens in splendid order, and a dull, calm day, the conditions at the start for the monthly medal match were practically all that could be desired. Before many holes were played, however, steady rain set in and continued for the rest of the day, resulting in the greens becoming very heavy and play somewhat difficult. Many players ' abandoned the match, but a fair number played the game to the finish, although wet to the skin. Mr. Howie showed good form, and brought in the winning score: 94 handicap 7—87. Chirnside (921 —91) and Hamilton (109 —18—91) tied for second place, with G. Willock (94 —scr —94) and J. H. Bull (95 —scr —95) being fourth and fifth respectively. Gibson (106 —8—98) was sixth. Afternoon tea was kindly given by Misses Davies (2) and Murray.

CORONATION DAY PROGRAMME

The A and B tournament starts next Saturday, and on Coronation Day an interesting programme is in order. Two clubs have been presented for the winners of the A foursomes, and similar trophies for the winners of the B’s. The match committee desire that all members intending to play on Coronation Day should hand their names in beforehand, so that arrangements may he made for an early start.
