CRICKET.
ENGLAND AND AUSTRALIA.
THE PROPOSED VISIT
[UNITED PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYEIGHT.
LONDON, June 11. The Marylebone Cricket Club has twice cabled and sent letters dealing with points requiring settlement regarding the visit of an English team to Australia next autumn. The Board of Control has not replied, and unless a reply is soon sent, it may be impossible to send a team, even if Australia wishes.
THE TRIANCULAR TESTS.
AN OBVIOUS MISUNDERSTANDING.
(Received June 12, 10.58 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 12. g
The secretary of the Cricket Board of Control says he is surprised at the Marylebone Club’s cable, as only last week a cable was received from Marylebone asking if they wished a team sent to Australia this year. To this cable the secretary replied that they were expecting a team in Australia, as the Board intended to adhere to the programme agreed upon in connection with the triangular tests. [The cable from the Marylebone Club referred to was, in effect, that if a reply on the subject were not forthcoming from Australia at an early date, it was improbable that a visit from an English team would eventuate.]
