DAVIS CUP CONTEST.
SOUTH AFRICA WIIHDRAWS
[UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) SYDNEY, June 12. (Received June, 12, 10.58 p.m.)
The secretary of the Tennis Association has received a cable from South Africa, expressing regret that South Africa must withdraw from the Davis Cup contest. The withdrawal leaves England and America to play off, to determine .which shall compete against Australia in the challenge round in December in New Zealand. It appears as if England, and America will have to play their tie in Australia, as America has definitely refused to go to London.
