MAGISTERIAL CHANGES

WELLINGTON, June 13. Mr Scott-Smith, S.M., of Whangarei, who is retiring from the service on superannuation, will be succeeded by Mr A. Crcoke, of Greymouth. Mr F. V. Frazer, the newly-appointed Magistrate from Christchurch, will go .to Hokitika, replacing Mr J. G. Hewitt, who is to succeed Mr Crooke at Greymouth.

STREETS OF CHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH, June 13. The City Council last night decided by a bare majority to send the Mayor’s road scheme to the ratepayers for approval. The scheme involves a loan of one hundred thousand pounds, and covers the reconstruction of forty miles of streets. THE DEMAND FOR LAND.
