THE OUTBREAK SUBDUED. TWENTY TONS OF CARGO DAMAGED. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION..! WELLINGTON, Jr no 22 A fire occurred in the s.s. Victoria's No 3 hold during the passage from Lyttelton to Wellington. The hatches wcie battened down, and the outbreak subsequently extinguished by the Harbor Board’s chemical engine. The outbreak .started in the lower hold >igainst the bulkhead on the port side, amongst some chaff and potatoes. All the on •-go has been discharged. About 20 tons was damaged by heat and smoke. The steamer suffered no structural injur}’. The damaged produce was shipped in the south for Auckland.
