■"UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. MELBOURNE, June 22, The ‘ latest report from Seymour is that a sudden rise took place in the Goulburn river, and all the streets are under water. Many houses are flooded. The only means of transit is vehicles and boats.

• There was a heavy gale in the city yesterday morning, accompanied by sleet and occasionally by snow. The rain since January is the highest on record for six months. Thousands of acres are flooded. In Nathalie district many crops have been destroyed. There is a sea- of water round Kotupua. The residents were compelled to leave their houses. Many farmers have been ruined. Boats have been sent to Sliepparton to assist the settlers. The waters are still spreading. The flood at Warbairton are the most disastrous on record. Further rains have occurred in various parts of the State. The rivers continue to rise. At one place the coffinbearers walked in water above tlieir waists to a hearse. The hearse \fas bogged and could not be extricated. 'Another vehicle was obtained. The floods caused numerous land slides and wash-aways. Railway communication is badly interrupted. Healesville is partly submerged. Several residents have vacated their houses. At Cora Lynn a resident took a horse and some cows into a house to save them from drowning. Another was sharing his dwelling for several clays with 30 pigs. Maldor, a tramp, who had camped oil the -bank of a creek, is missing. His effects were found covered with mud and debris. At Warbnrton the- river is over a mile wide and a variety of property is floating down. The latest reports from the flooded districts state that the' rivers are falling. Big areas are still under water. There 'is widespread damage^
