Among the most interested of the spectators were the inmates of the Old People’s, Home, who were present at the invitation of the committee. The matron 1 of the creohe was also present with her little charges. When supper was announced it took ■ some mar aging to keep the happy laughing throng of young people well supplied with all the good things, and none went hungry away. The supper tables were gaily decorated with red, white, and blue flags, and large jars filled with arum lilies and fancy grasses. About half-past' ten the adults too'k the floor, and still the merry " laughter of the children continued oredominant until the close of the function. To describe the frocks would Ire more than ordinary nen could do, sufficient it is to say that never before have so many pretty frocks been seen, or so much admired, and the credit of course is due to the fond parents, many of whom were present to join in their little ones’ pleasure. The duties of M.C.’s were most ably carried out by Dr. J. Clive Collins, Messrs J. R. Kirk, W. Webb, F. J. Lysnar, and Captain C. Hel’lier Evans, whilst Mrs. Agnes Scott worked arduously as secretary with the committee to make the ball the great success it was. It is anticipated with the results of the two balls held this week that the building fund for the new creche will benefit to the extent of £2OO.
