P.B. RUGBY UNION. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE • The usual weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the 1 ovei ty Bay Rugby Union was held, last night, Mr H. E. Maude presiding. It was decided to send a team to Toloda Bay to play a match on July Bth. It & was also decided to endeavor to arrange a match with Mangatu ror next Saturday, in Gisborne, or failing that date for July 15th. • .The secretary was instructed to write thanking the Hockey Association for its . handsome donation to the travelling f . fund and also express the thanks or the ' Union to the police authorities for assistance in keeping the playing areas at the Domain free of spectators. The Hastings sub-union forwarded a notification that they would he unable to send a team to Gisborne this season. It was resolved to grant a match to the Hikurangi {Waipiro) team against the Thursday reresentatives on July 27th, and farther, the same team is to take part in a “curtain raiser match prior to the fixture Poverty Bay v. the Maori touring team, on July 29th. This week’s games were arranged as follows:
Thursday : Alhambra v. Star. Saturday. —Seniors : Kaiti-Crty v. United, No. 1 ground; Y.M.C.A. v. YM P No. 2 ground. Juniors: Y.M.C.A. v. Kaiti-Oty, No. 1 ground; Garrison v. United, No. 2. Thirds (at the Park): Y.M.P. v. Garrison, 2.15 p.m.; High School v. Y.M.0.A., 3.20 p.m. School Matches (Domain) : Gisborne r. Te Hapara, 9.45 a.m., No, 1; VVae-rengara-lnka v. Mangapapa, 11 a.m., No 1; Convent v. Kaiti, 11 a.m., No. 2. It was decided to write asking the Y.M.P. Club fox an explanation as to why its junior team did not keep its appointment last week. The selector handed in the names oi Leach, Nicolas and Hargreaves to be added to a list of players to go into training in view of the possible match with Auckland for the Ranfurly Shield. After deliberation the Union decided to recommend all the selected players to become members of the Pastimes Club. The Union officials will meet the players at the Club rooms on Monday night, to confer as to the details of the proposed trip to Auckland. The secretary of the N.Z.R.F.U. notified the Union that the dates of the Country Teams’ tour have been arranged as follow: ~ South" Island Team.—Assemble at Christchurch on Ist August. Play Canterbury 3rd August, Otago sth August, Southland 9th, and' North Team 12th August. North Island Team. —Assemble at Palmerston North on 26th July (Wednesday) in time to proceed by mail train that day (except South Auckland and Bay of Plenty reps., who will catch the train as it passes through). • Play Auckland 29th July. Taranaki 3rd August, Wanganui, sth, Wellington 9th, and South Team 12th August.
