OBITUARY.

MR. THOS. O’DONNELL, MATA-

WHERO

By the death of Mr. Thos. O’Donnell, which occurred on Saturday afternoon, the Matawhero district loses an old and highly esteemed resident. The deceased settled in this part of the Dominion m 1877. For some time he had not enjoyed good health. Though very well known, Mr. O’Donnell did not, apart from educational matters, take an active part in local affairs. He was on the Matawhero School Committee for many years, and was at all times ready and willing to assist the school. He leaves a widow and a grown-up family of nine. To them will be extended the sympathy of a wide circle of friends.
