GOLF.

POVERTY BAY CLUB

The third rounds in the A and B tournaments, together with the monthly medal stroke competition, proved an attractive draw at the local links on Saturday afternoon, and, as Avas only to be expected, there was a large attendance of players. The afternoon wos favorable for play,, and some good rounds were done. There were a good many ladies present, and afternoon tea was kindly provided bv Mesdames W. B. Willock and A. W. Rees.

—A Tournament.—

Interest in the senior competition increases as the competitors become narrowed down. Three games Avere played in the A Division on Saturday, and all were folloived Avith keen interest.

Barns-Graham (4) Avas in good form, and proved too good for Anderson (12), Avho Avent doAvn to the tune of 4 and 3 to play. The game betAveen G. M. Dodgshun (scr) and E. Adair (11), as expected, proved a good fight. Dodgshun was in his usual capital form, but Adair, Avith the aid of his handicap, stuck Avell to the local champion until the long hole Avas reached. Here Adair cracked up rather badly, and Dodgshun, going on strongly, Avon comfortably by 3 up and 2. L. T. BroAvn (14), who has been playing in good form this season, quite outplayed N. Bull (2). The game Avas all over at the 13th green, Avliere BroAvn Avon by the large margin of 6 up and sto play. The handicappers appear to have altogether underestimated the capabilities of the Avinner. If he maintains the form he has been showing lately he should have little difficulty in going right through the tournament.
