[PEE PEESS ASSOCIATION.! NAPIER, July 7. In tlie Supreme Court to-dav an old man named Robt. Gunning Bell was re-tried on a charge of carnally knowng a girl under sixteen at Matamau. Ihe i jury at the previous hearing having failed to agree, a verdict of not guilty was returned and prisoner discharged. MANAWATU A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
PALMERSTON N., July 7. Mr~F. N. Penny, of Paeroa, has been appointed secretary of the Manawatu A*, and P. Association from 113 applications. These were reduced to three— Messrs Penny and_ H. F. Gibson, of Oamaru, aiid L. N. Harley, of Christchurch, and of these Mr Penny was chosen at a special meeting of the Association Finance Committee yesterday. ACCIDENTAL DEATH. GItEYMOUTH, July 7. At the inquest on the body of Albert Ellison, who met his death by being crushed by a crane on Thursday morning at the Dispatch Foundry, a verdict of accidental death was returned.
