CHRISTCHURCH FOOD SUPPLY.
AN INSPECTION BY THE MAYOR.
EVERYTHING SATISFACTORY. iPEU PRESS ASSOCIATION.: CHRISTCHURCH, July 8. The Mayor, accompanied by the city’s chief inspector, lias just completed _ a series of unannounced visits to the dining rooms and kitchens of establishments where the city food is prepared or retailed. He found all satisfactory, save one but the exception did not affect' the wholesomeness of the food. _ The Mayor, in reporting the result, said: “I don’t gloat over the unhealthy state of things that exists in Auckland. I have always regarded Auckland as on© of the most beautiful cities in New Zealand, and also one of the most untidy. The persistone© with which plague clings to Auckland suggests that, in addition to being beautiful and untidy it is shockingly unclean. It is due to the Dominion ‘that Auckland should remove the reproach that rests upon it as being a place l where visitors can have no feeling of security that they are not poisoned while they are being fed.
