Some striking figures regarding the value, of Ireland’s exports of poultry and eggs were given at a poultry conference held in Dublin, and attended l by 25() delegates from all parts of the United Kingdom. The conference was organised l by the Irish Department of Agriculture. Mr T. W. Russell, vicepresident of the department, occupied the chair, and the Lord-Lieutenant (Lord Aberdeen) and Lady Aberdeen were present. Mr-Russell stated that the value of the eggs exported from Ireland in 1910 was £2,744,138; poultry, £927,075; and feathers, £32,640 —making a total of £3,703,673. There had latterly been an average annual increase of £353,372 in these exports, and since 1904 the increase had been nearly £1,000,000. This increase was largely due to the work of the poultry instructors and to the county committees, who had been responsible for the administration of the scheme. The imports of eggs, poultry., and feathers had decreased from £80,507 in 1908 to £60,707 in 1910. Footballers and hockey players!
