"THE DANGER SIGNAL.”
To-night, in His Majesty’s Theatre, the above performance is to'be staged. Speaking on the performance of that piece a Wagga (N.S.W.) contemporary writes: ' "The Lyceum Theatre was packed to overflowing last night to witness the second production of * ‘ ‘The Danger Signal” by the Rice Dramatic Company, the performance being in every way as much a complete success as was the opening night. The many striking and stirring situations were faithfully pourtrayed by a powerful cast of characters, each member claiming a full share of the frequent applause. . .” Mr Rice announces that six of the original cast of characters will be in the production this evening, the balance of it being filled by a number of well-known performers. Special mention may be made of the scenic effects, included in which is a large Supreme Court scene, the dresses and properties of which were especially prepared in .Melbourne for the production of the piece. The performance is a benefit tendered to the local Friendly Societies’ Conference funds. Box plans for the performance may be seen at Mr Miller’s.
RATHE PICTURES. Tire change of programme screened at the Rathe Pictures on Saturday evening attracted a large audience. The star film, a drama, entitled "Lieut. Rose and the Stolen Code,” included many novel scenes, including one of two battleships in action, while "Billy’s Bible” was an entertaining military story enacted' in a masterly fashion. "The American and the Queen”, was a picture embodying some inspiring scenes and telling of intrigue, heroism, and subsequent liberty, whilst "Waiter No. 5” is a depiction, having the quality of enlisting the sympathy of the audience. An industrial film of an entertaining character is that illustrating "The Potter’s Art,” and one of the best athletic pictures seen here of late was one entitled "A Trio of Acrobats.” The comic subjects are especially good and created roars' of laughter. Noteworthy among these were "Wait Till I Catch You,” "Tontolini is Sad,” and "Tweedledum is Late.’’ Owing to the Theatre being otherwise engaged this evening, there will; be no pictures, but the above programme! will be repeated to-morrow night.
