AUCKLAND’S LARGE LOAN.

SANCTIONED BY THE RATEPAYERS. , [PER PRESB ASSOCIATION.! AUCKLAND, July 15. A poll of city ratepayers was taken yesterday on proposals contained in the Council’s progressive programme of public works, involving the raising of loans of an aggregate amount of £420,000 to provide permanent and durable streets, a seaside park at Ponsonby, public swimming baths, extensions to and protection of the safety of the water supply, and a branch library for the Benefit of the eastern portion of the city. The proposals were carried by a fairly large majority.
