ENORMOUS QUANTITIES OF FOOD. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.J AUCKLAND, July 15. Disappointment is expressed amongst the large number of Natives gathered at W&ani (Mahuta’s settlement) at the non-apoearance of Sir James Carroll, the, Acting Prime Minister, who it was hoped would meet the Natives to-day to discuss land matters with them. It is now stated that he will be present on Wednesday. Visitors are present from as far south at Taranaki and Wanganui and. Rangitikei. A large quantity of provisions, etc., have, been procured to feed the visitors. Some, ten tons of potatoes, twelve tons of kumeras, five tons of pipis, one ton of mussels, eight saclis of eels, six bullocks, eight pigs, fish, sugar, biscuits, etc., in large quantities, and from 200 to 250 loaves of bread is the daily consumption. -
