MYSTERIOUS SHOOTING AFFRAY,

TWO MEN ARRESTED

[UNITED PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYEIGHT J SYDNEY, July 16. A mysterious tragedy _ occurred in Scott street. Newcastle, in broad daylight yesterday. Charles McGuire, alias Michael Daly, was shot dead. Nobody is known to have witnessed the occurrence. Thomas Jones and Geo. Smith, who were standing near, have been arrested on a charge of vagrancy. Another man, the owner of the revolver used, states that Jones and Smith visited him for drink. He afterwards missed the revolver, and subsequently found it on the footpeath near deceased. Smith and the deceased were companions.
