LOST LIONESS LIVES UNDER BOARD WALK.
HIDES AFTER CONEY ISLAND FIRE AND IS FINALLY CAPTURED.
A 35 pound lioness has been knocking around Coney Island since the fire which destroyed Dreamland on May 27th. Most, if not all of this time, she has spent under the board-walk of Luna Park, with thousands of persons walking above her day and night- and tens of thousands on Sundays. The lioness was found oil Saturday night-, and to-day was a feature of the park, having a special cage in the centre of the boardwalk in front of the administration offices of Luna. Word of the capture spread quickly, • aiid early in the day Colonel Joseph G. Ferrari, owner of the Ferrari animal show, which was such a heavy loser iu the Dreamland fire, which is now under a tent with the remnants of its former menagerie, invaded Luna Park, and, after a look at the lioness, demanded her return. He said it was his animal Atlanta, which he supposed had perished in the fire. The Luna Park people refused to surrender the lioness, and Colonel Ferrari threatens to get a writ of replevin.
