THE RECIPROCITY AGREEMENT.
“CERTAIN TO PASS THE SENATE.” [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received, July 23, 5.5. p.m.) WASHINGTON, July 22. It is practically certain that the Reciprocity agreement will pass. Sixty Senators are favorable to it, while many more have promised their votes. Numerous pending amendments are to be closured. During the debate, Senator Smith, in opposing the agreement, said that British capital would be certain to flood the United States through Canadian channels. PASSED THE SENATE. OPPOSITION OF REPUBLICANS. (Received July 24 1.5 a.m.) WASHINGTON, July 23. The Reciprocity. Bill passed the Senate by 53 votes to 37. A majority of the Republicans opposed the measure. The President’s signature will be affixed on Wednesday.
