BOWLING.

TURANGANUI CLUB. The first meeting of the newly-elect-ed committee of the Turanganui Bowling Club was) held on Saturday afternoon, there being present: Messrs C. J. Bennett (President), V. Hooper, J. P. Williams, A. Sawyer, B. Hird and M. G. Nasmith, jun. (secretary). The following sub-committees were appointed for the season: Ground superintendent, Mr J. P. Williams; refreshment committee, Messrs D. Barry, Hird, and Nasmith; match committee, Messrs Hooper, Sawyer and Nasmith. A good deal of discussion ensued in regard to the finance of the club, and It was iresolved (1) That the entrance fee of all new members must be deposited at the time of nomination; (2) that every player taking part in inter-club matches must be financial before being allowed to compete; (3) that the skips In prize matches shall see that all members of their teams have paid tlieir match entry before competing, otherwise a team playing such members will be disqualified; (4.) that the rule in reference to subscriptions! being paid by December 31st be strictly enforced 1 . It was resolved that a list of officers and members of the club be posted in the pavilion for the benefit of members. A vote of condolence was passed to Mr D. Barry, the treasurer of the club, in connection with l the death of his wife. Tlie secretary was authorised to procure all books and stationery to. bring the club up-to-date and expedite its working. The matter of members competing in prize matches in. both local clubs was brought up. as being against the Northern. Bowling Association’s rules.—lt was decided to appoint a committee to wait on the Gisborne Bowling Club in reference to the matter^ The President announced that ho wished the conditions of the Bennett Cup altered l , in order to allow of more play, by challenge. Considerable discussion followed, and Mr Bennett’s suggestion was approved of. he to draw up the conditions and submit same for the approval of the Match Committee. After several minor items of business had been'transacted, the meeting adjourned.
