WELLINGTON INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION. tPER PRESS ASSOCIATION.} WELLINGTON, July 23. There were immense crowds 'at the "Wellington industrial exhibition yesterday. The various exhibitors had combined and purchased the “gate” for the day, arranging many special attractions, including ,a - baby shoAV in the afternoon. In this CA r ent there Avere over 130 competitors. All the afternoon and evening the whole of the exhibition area- Avas densely packed ,dnd one could only move about sloAvly in the throng. The number that attended is not yet a Available. but must run into several thousands. HYDRO-ELECTRICAL SCHEME. CHRISTCHURCH,. July 22. Messrs Evan Parry and; E. Birks, the Government hydro-electrical engineers, to-day visited Lake Coleridge. Mr. Parry expresses the opinion that poAver can be cheaply developed at the Lake and delivered in Christchurch. Regarding the market for power here, into which he has been inquiring during the last two or three days, Mr. Parry states that he is satisfied with the prospects. “COMRADE” COOKE IMPRISONED F. R. Cooke, who Avas recently imprisoned for failing to pay ia fine,, was arrested to-day and committed to tire Lyttelton gaol for the non-payment of a fine imposed in the Magistrate’s Court for a breach of the city bv-laws.
