Maurice Fournier, who was leading in the race for the Grand Prix ior automibiles ,on the Sartlie circuit, was travelling at the rate- of 60 m-iles an hour, when his front axle broke, overturning the ear. Fournier was killed instantly, and his cliaffooiir was seriously injured.
