HOCKEY.
MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATION. The usual meeting of the: Poverty Bay Hockey Association was held in the Royal Hotel last evening, Mr. A. E. Rees in the chair. The following referees were appointed for to-morrow: —West End v. Y.M.C.A., at 2 p.m., Mr. A. E. Rees; City v. Civil Service, at 3 p.m., Messrs R. Grant and Kibhlewhite; Gisborne Ladies’ v. High School. 3 p.m., Mr. A. E. Rees. Saturday: West End v. Mercantile at 1.45, Messrs O. Holden and Dudson; Kovhai v. High School, at 3 p.m., Mr J. Doyle. A vote of thanks was accorded 1 the Borough Council for their effort to nlaee two grounds at the hockey players’ disposal next year. _ ' Several sub-committees were appointed in connection' with the forthcoming ball, which is to be held in the Theatre on the 10th of August. Messrs Vita Bros, orchestra were engaged to supply the music. The ladies’ clubs are preparing the supper, and 'have arrangements well in hand.
