WATER SUPPLY FOR TAURANGA
IPEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.! TAURANGA, July 27. The contract for the Tauranga water supply is now completed. Water was turned on this morning. A good display N was made, giving a pressure of 1201bs to the square inch, bv a tested gauge. A fire hose was used, and the water was sent over the highest buildings. The main line and reticulation traverse nearly sixteen miles. The contract was carried out by Mr. Newphan Ferguson, of the Steel Pipe Company, Wanganui. Mr. H. Munro Wilson, of Auckland, was the engineer. The cost to the borough is about £12,000. MOTOR CAR DESTROYED BY FIRE NEW PLYMOUTH, July 27. A Caltliorpe 16 to '2O horse-power motor car, conveying a party of visitors to<the North Egmont,mountain house, was totally destroyed bv fire on Wednesday evening owing to the 1 engine becoming overheated by a long pull on a low gear. No one was injured.
