ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
OLD MAN’S MISTAKE. [PER PREBB ASSOCIATION.! ASHBURTON. July 27. David Stoba, an old and respected resident of Methvcn, accidentally shot himself this morning while out shooting sparrows. He was found by neighbors with a frightful wound in the head. Death must have been instantaneous. FARMER DROPS DEAD. AUCKLAND, July 27. A farmer named Frederick Candwell, who resided at Wade, dropped dead in his house this morning. Candwell was apparently in good health yesterday, and the cause of death is not known. LABORER’S FATAL MISTAKE. • AUCKLAND, July 28. John Chappell, a wharf laborer, under the influence of liquor, drank a small bottle of lysol, mixed with porter, death resulting.
