ALLEGATION AGAINST ORGANISER. AN INDIGNANT DENIAL. ESPECIAL TO TIMES.] - AUCKLAND,. . August 9. Mr Martin, the Opposition organiser, interviewed at Hamilton, regarding an allegation: > mado-aga-inst him of having made use of a base inuendo regarding Sir James Carroll, stated that Sir Jas. Carroll was probably referring: to an address given by him at Manu'kau some three weeks ago.' In criticising the administration of the Native Lands Department, he (Mr. Martin) said: — “Sir James Carroll has had charge of the administration for many year's, and what lias he got to show for it? - Practically nothing but a title?” ■Mr. Martin states that lie is prepared to make any offer that no such meaning as that conveyed in the words used by Sir James Carroll could be construed into any statement of his by any stretch of the imagination. Never at Manalcau, or on any other platform, had he ever -referred to the private affairs of any Minister or member, and he was quite certain that every man and- wo■man who was present at the mooting at Manakau will corroborate _ this statement as regards that meeting.
