GLOOMY PREDICTIONS FOR NORTH ISLAND. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.J WELLINGTON, August 16. The meteorological report to-night issued the following weather summary and forecast:— The barometer has had a falling tendency. with increasing cloudiness, and rain is falling in most parts of the country. Northerly winds have prevailed, strong to gales- on the west coast of the South Island. In the northern districts present indications are for rain generally, and heavy in'parts, with rivers rising. Strong northerly winds veering to westerly will probably prevail, and a falling barometer everywhere.
