THE MOTU FARMERS’ UNION BALL. (FROM OUE OWN CORRESPONDENT.} A very enjoyable ball, given by the Motu branch of the Farmers’ Union, was held last Friday evening in the Motu Hall, which was handsomely decorated with ferns and flags for the occasion. There was a large attendance of the settaers of the district, and a good number came from Matawai, Whakarau, etc. Although the roads are in a bad state at this time of the year, many ladies were pre sent, and made the function one of the best yet held here. The music was ably supplied by Mr. Kirk (Te Arai) and Mr. R. F. Jackson acted as M.C., assisted by Mr. L. Carron.

At the close of the entertainment, Mr E. Richardson, in a few well-chos-en words, thanked the ladies for the superior catering of the supper.
