PERSONAL NOTES.
The Ven. Archdeacon Williams returned to Gisborne by the Tarawera yesterday morning from South. Major Sandtmann arrived m town from Napier yesterday morning, and returned to the South by last evening s steamer. Mr John Warren, clerk of the Cook County Council, left on a holiday visit to Auckland by the Tarawera yesterday. , _ . Mr A. J. Paterson, the Borough Engineer, is still in the Lister Hospital, but he is making good progress towards recovery. Air A. E. Lawrence, conductor of the Gisborne City Band, was a passenger to the South last evening, and goes to Woodville to attend the funeral of his son, who died there yesterday. Captain and Airs Aloss left for Napier last evening. Captain Aloss intends visiting Canterbury, Otago, and Marlborough with a view to establishing plants for the treatment of wool in those provinces. Regarding the plant to be put up here it is stated that the site has not yet been finally decided upon, but negotiations are expected to be completed at an early date. Mr C. J. Parker was a passenger to the South by the Hauroto last evening. Dr. W. j. Anderson, Assistant-Ins-pector-Gene ral of Schools, arrived in Gisborne yesterday. A resolution of condolence with Air A. E. Lawrence, conductor of .the City Band, on the death of his son, was passed on the motion of Air J. Chrisp, seconded by Mr E. Pettie; at a meeting of the Gisborne Orchestral Society last night.
