The test for deflection of steel rails at Lithgow* between those locally made and imported, gave exactly the same results, indicating that Messrs Hoskings, Ltd., are making a satisfactory article. A GOVERNMENT CREMATORIUM. The Board of Health is recomemnding the Government to place a sum on the estimates for a Government crematorium. FACTORIES IN NEW SOUTH AVALES. During 1910 the value of the products of New South AYales manufactories and works, amounted to £17,058,268, an increase of 16 per centum over the previous year. During ten years, the number of factories has increased from forty four per centum, and the number of persons employed by fifty-one per centum ; the output from the factories by ninety-four perccntum, and the amount of salaries and wages by seventy-six per centum.
