E. Taylor 4338, Mr. C. M. Gray 2700, and Mr. R. J. Eeroyd 856) at the last general election. The corrected final result is:— L. M. Isitt 3814 J. D. Hall ... 3106 Majority for Isitt 708 The results were got in very promptly, the last coming to ha-nd shortly after eight o’clock. SPEECHES BY THE CANDIDATES. MR. HALL WILL STAND AGAIN. Mr. Hall, in the course of a speech, stated that the manner in which those who worked for him 'had done their work led him to believe that the figures would he altered in two months’ time, when, as far as he was concerned, he would give them an opportunity of deciding whether or not that would be the case. . Mr. Isitt said he regarded the victory as a tribute to their dead leader. It was no secret that the Conservative forces had been concentrated upon the struggle, and the Conservatives took it that if they won the election it would be an evidence of the turn of the tide of public opinion. They had failed, and he honestly believed that the day had passed for legislation of the spirit and character the Conservatives believed was for the good of the Dominion.
